Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives patients and visitors and provides assistance in scheduling appointments, patient registration, medical chart maintenance and the coordination of patient referrals.
- Greets patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner and verifies patient contact and insurance information on file.
- Captures and documents patient information accurately, including demographic details and insurance information.
- Ensures proper security measures are followed to maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
- Answers non-medical questions and gives routine non-medical instructions.
- Registers patients, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and accurate.
- Coordinates and schedules appointments, ensuring timely follow-up and reminders.
- Collects, verifies, and enters insurance and third-party payments into the applicable system.
- May escort patients throughout the Center to ensure proper office flow.
- Maintains inventory of office supplies and ensures proper storage and labeling.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Prefer minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare business office operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Rounded revenue cycle process knowledge (health insurance billing, collection and cash posting functions).
- Prefer knowledge of various health insurance programs including Governmental and Non-Governmental insurance.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Prefer knowledge of medical terminology.
Required Experience
- Prefer minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare business office operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
