The Prince George's County Board of Elections is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill General Clerk 1 positions, grade G06 within the Administration Division. About The Position The incumbents in this position are considered an "Essential Employee," during an election cycle. The election cycle begins three (3) months prior to an election and one (1) month following the election. As an "Essential Employee," you will not be authorized to take leave of absence, and you will be required to work specified weekends and holidays. The incumbent in this position must be able to lift and carry supplies/equipment up to fifty (50) pounds and must have excellent computer, data entry and analytical skills. About The Agency The mission of the Prince George's County Board of Elections is to promote voter education, administer an efficient voting process, maintain an accurate voter registration database, and ensure that elected officials are elected in accordance with Federal, State, and County election laws. The Board of Elections is responsible for the supervision of elections, voter registration and record keeping, and the administration of election laws in Prince George's County, in accordance with The Election Law Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Board and the Election Administrator seek to provide voter registration to every County citizen who wants it. Examples of Work Receives, processes, files and disseminates voter registration applications: absentee ballot applications, and various other registration & election records Removes voters as a result of information obtained from various legally mandated agencies and reviews and edits data preparing it for entry into automated systemsTypes routine letters, memoranda, reports, etc. using various software applicationsGreets visitors, answers telephone and e-mail inquiries, screens customer complaintsAdvises citizens of various provisions of election law. Trains Voter Registration VolunteersAssists in preparation and distribution of Election Day materials, assists with the Chief Judge check-in process, processing absentee ballots and provisional ballotsPerforms tasks and duties assigned within responsibility level of this class of work Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration: High school diploma or G.E.D. certificateMust be a resident of the state of MarylandMust be a registered voter in the State of Maryland EACH APPLICANT MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION WHICH CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION Additional Information Salary Range Transparency: The salary range listed in this announcement reflects the offer range for this position. Be willing to adhere to the nature of the service provided by this agency, all employees are considered essential during an election cycle. The election cycle begins three months prior to an election and continues one month following the election or until the election is certified. As an essential employee you WILL NOT be authorized to take leave during an election cycle. Additionally, you will be required to work specified weekends and holidays.
