Receptionist

About the role

The receptionist is responsible for providing information and referral to residents, visitors, staff, and prospective clients in a positive, service-oriented manner. The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic clerical skills (typing, filing, light bookkeeping), and the ability to work in an environment with multiple interruptions. A pleasant nature and a willingness and desire to work with the elderly are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and referrals to residents, visitors, staff, and prospective clients
• Perform clerical duties: typing, filing, light bookkeeping
• Manage multiple interruptions while maintaining a service-oriented demeanor
• Walk throughout the facility as needed
• Sit for extended periods; lift 1–20 pounds occasionally

Requirements

• Exceptional communication and conflict‑resolution skills
• Proficiency with typing and ten‑key adding machine
• Ability to function as a team member
• Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of staff, residents, families, and the public
• Visual acuity and good hearing
• Potential for exposure to blood/body fluids is not likely
