Receptionist
About the role
The Receptionist serves as the welcoming first point of contact for parishioners, visitors, staff, and members of the community. This position provides friendly and professional front-office support while assisting with administrative tasks, phone calls, correspondence, scheduling, and parish information.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist parishioners, visitors, clergy, staff, and community members in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer, screen, and direct incoming telephone calls and respond to general inquiries.
- Provide accurate information about parish activities, Mass schedules, ministries, events, and services.
- Receive and distribute mail, deliveries, messages, and other correspondence.
- Maintain an organized and welcoming reception area and front office.
- Aid with scheduling appointments, meetings, facilities, and parish events as needed.
- Perform general administrative and clerical duties, including filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and document preparation.
- Maintain and update parish records, databases, directories, and contact information.
- Aid parish staff with communications, forms, registrations, and other administrative projects.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Support parish events and activities as needed.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and needs.
- Provide compassionate assistance to individuals seeking information, support, or connection with parish ministries.
Requirements
Experience: 0-2 years
Education: Undergraduate degree
Skills: Friendly, professional demeanor; excellent communication skills; ability to handle sensitive information with discretion; proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of church operations and procedures.
Qualifications
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities; willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
