About the role
Our program is designed to introduce candidates to a career in Occupational Health & Safety for the Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection industry. The primary responsibility is to assist the Safety Manager in enforcing and regulating all safety procedures to ensure Southland Industries meets all safety requirements in the field and all facilities, while gaining an understanding of the management and coordination of division safety activities and the construction process.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all tasks and functions on project sites are performed safely in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA standards.
- Help implement the Corporate Safety Award Program.
- Provide distribution of certification cards for various industrial equipment training and maintain records of industrial equipment training.
- Report and manage all company vehicle claims.
- Assist in reporting workers' compensation claims.
- Update Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) manual.
- Assemble various safety manuals for distribution.
- Assist in implementing and distributing safety tailgate meetings.
- Maintain records of signed safety tailgate meeting forms.
Qualifications
- Passion for safety and a desire to implement safety programs and protocols within a construction environment.
- Self-starter who takes initiative to find solutions and improve processes.
- Collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively as part of a team that prioritizes safety.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and relationships quickly.
- Experience or desire to train, coach, and mentor less experienced safety personnel.
- Understanding of how to promote safety in a construction work environment.
- Desire to grow, learn, and build a career with an innovative construction company.
