Responsibilities
- Perform quality tests on all incoming raw materials as specified in reception procedures.
- Sample raw materials from bulk trucks, big bags, and totes.
- Conduct various laboratory analyses on raw materials according to the control plan.
- Handle receiving document procedures, including signing delivery documents and noting quality/quantity objections.
- Inform the Q&FS Manager of quality deviations based on product standards and production procedures.
- Accept or decline reception of goods according to reception procedures.
- Collaborate with the raw material supply coordinator on inbound receiving scheduling priorities.
- Offload raw materials from trucks (bulk liquids, seed, meals, big bags, bags), including adding chemicals like insecticide or antioxidant as required.
- Maintain the Warehouse Management System (WMS) accurately.
- Report any stock discrepancies immediately.
- Operate forklifts and shag trucks for offloading and storing raw materials in the warehouse.
- Perform calibrations, verifications, and record-keeping for laboratory instruments.
- Conduct first-level maintenance of area-related equipment.
- Perform inventory of raw ingredients in bins, silos, and racks (cyclical and period-end inventories).
- Detect and report raw material quality problems.
- Advise the raw material supply coordinator of late or missing deliveries.
- Provide customer service to inbound delivery companies.
- Prepare samples and documentation for external labs.
- Prepare finished products for quality control (micro sampling).
- Submit products accurately to offsite/external laboratories.
- Maintain a working knowledge of food safety.
- Assist in maintaining high levels of daily cleanliness and adherence to site GMPs.
- Prioritize daily work by identifying pressing issues through communication with operators, knowing shift production plans, and area awareness.
- Promote a high-quality team environment through effective teamwork and self-management with a positive attitude.
- Perform all assigned activities and job tasks within the area.
- Understand production schedules as they relate to shutdowns.
- Conduct detailed cleaning of large areas, workspaces, and manufacturing equipment.
- Understand microbiological and pest control in a food manufacturing environment.
- Work with all teams on sanitation, pest control, and housekeeping projects.
- Work in enclosed spaces and as part of an interactive team in a plant setting.
- Complete all duties associated with assigned operation areas safely and efficiently.
- Perform sanitation duties as required by the Master Sanitation Schedule, with attention to lock out/tag out procedures and complete required documentation.
- Assist the plant in meeting or exceeding production goals.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities throughout the plant as assigned by the Manager.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Standing on a concrete floor for extended periods.
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
- Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55 lbs.
- Adapting to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust, dirt, and chemicals.
- Vision correctable to 20/20.
