About the role
We are seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Receiver to join our opening team. This essential role is responsible for receiving, inspecting, organizing, and distributing all food, beverage, and operational deliveries while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety.
Position Summary
The Receiver is responsible for verifying all incoming deliveries, inspecting products for quality and accuracy, organizing inventory, and ensuring all items are properly stored according to company standards. This position works closely with the Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Pastry Chef, Beverage Manager, General Manager, and approved vendors to ensure the restaurant is fully stocked and operational.
Receiving & Inventory Management
- Receive and inspect all food, beverage, and operational deliveries.
- Verify quantities, product quality, temperatures, and pricing against purchase orders and invoices.
- Reject damaged, expired, or substandard products in accordance with company standards.
- Accurately document shortages, discrepancies, returns, and damaged merchandise.
- Ensure all deliveries meet Ludico's quality standards before acceptance.
- Maintain accurate receiving logs and inventory documentation.
Storage & Product Organization
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store all products using FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
- Organize walk-in coolers, freezers, dry storage, beverage storage, and supply rooms.
- Maintain clean, organized, and easily accessible storage areas.
- Ensure all products are stored according to food safety and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to department leaders.
- Assist with monthly and periodic inventory counts.
Vendor Relations & Operational Support
- Build professional relationships with vendors and delivery drivers.
- Coordinate delivery schedules to minimize operational disruption.
- Communicate product shortages, substitutions, or quality concerns to management.
- Assist departments with stocking products and distributing deliveries throughout the restaurant.
- Support purchasing and inventory initiatives as directed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow all Department of Health regulations and food safety standards.
- Maintain sanitation, cleanliness, and HACCP procedures in all receiving and storage areas.
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, dating, and temperature control procedures are followed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Safely operate pallet jacks, carts, dollies, and other receiving equipment.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of receiving, inventory, warehouse, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, inventory management, receiving procedures, and product rotation.
- Experience verifying invoices, purchase orders, and delivery documentation.
- Familiarity with FIFO inventory practices and proper product storage.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or purchasing systems preferred.
- Professional attitude with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds safely on a regular basis.
- Must have the ability to frequently move throughout multiple levels of the restaurant, including going up and down stairs while transporting products and supplies.
