About the Role
The Receiver supports the functions of the Receiving department to ensure smooth and timely operations of incoming products, materials, and supplies. This position works closely with management, warehouse workers, and customer service personnel.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating, organizing, and unloading incoming receipts to maintain the daily schedule.
- Communicate consistently with applicable individuals/departments to monitor shipment receiving status and ensure priorities are known and carried out.
- Operate a forklift to unload shipments and move them to the appropriate storage area.
- Handle documentation, including accurate log keeping of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately.
- Ensure received products match the receiving paperwork and communicate discrepancies to appropriate individuals.
- Properly stack tires and/or wheels during unloading.
- Consolidate product in the warehouse to make room for future receipts.
- Engage drivers with a positive attitude.
- Provide customer service and serve in an administrative capacity when needed.
- Assist in special and scheduled physical inventories.
- Promote self-improvement in assigned tasks and maintain a clean and safe work environment by sweeping, cleaning, and removing trash.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Performance Indicators
- Ensure all live unloads are performed at or under allotted free time.
- Ensure material received matches receiving documentation.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Prior warehouse experience in the shipping department required.
- Forklift experience required.
- RF scanner gun experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP and Warehouse Management Systems preferred.
- Understand daily work schedules and delivery requirements; work to achieve on-time/accurate delivery.
- Well organized, with the ability to track multiple activities involving numerous details.
- Willingness to be part of a team.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of oversight.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Capacity to handle prolonged periods of sedentary work or physical activity depending on job demands.
- Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to frequently use hands, talk, or hear.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50-75 pounds at times.
- The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
