About the role
Warehouse Associate, Receiver position with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm ($17.00/hour). Occasional Saturdays and early morning start time of 6:00 am may be required.
Responsibilities
- Receives Bill of Lading from the dock foreman and visually checks for accuracy.
- Enters purchase order number, number of pallets, date of receipt, carrier, and product count into the computerized inventory system.
- Breaks down delivery by book title using the packing slip and verifies against the packing slip by highlighting quantity and title for accuracy.
- Verifies book title against packing slip, scans license plate into system to link product with warehouse location.
- Weighs and measures length, width, and depth of books, entering the information into the inventory system.
- Verifies purchase order number, ISBN number, and quantity of books received for accuracy in the inventory system.
- Attaches license plate sticker to the bottom right corner of book boxes on pallets for product identification and tracking.
- Follows safety rules for personal protection and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Strips covers off books removed from the computerized inventory system.
- Removes old book titles from inventory.
- Assists with inventory cycle counts.
- Performs other duties as assigned, directed, or requested.
Requirements
- Must have sit-down forklift experience.
- Must be able to stand up to 8 hours a day and walk up to an hour.
- Must have no fear of heights; will occasionally climb.
- Must be able to push/pull 11-25 pounds occasionally and 36-50 pounds frequently.
- Must frequently bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, and push/pull 36-50 pounds.
- Must frequently carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must occasionally handle repetitive foot movement.
- Must frequently handle repetitive hand/arm movements for simple reaching, grasping, and fine hand manipulation.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to wear gloves occasionally.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees.
- Ability to calculate figures such as area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a warehouse environment.
- Employee is frequently exposed to vibrations and dust and works around moving machinery.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at low decibels.
