Role Overview

The Real ID Specialist (Limited Duration) position at the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is located in the Gladstone DMV Field Services Group, part of the Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the public with obtaining Real ID compliant identification cards.
  • Answer questions related to Real ID and provide customer service for Oregonians seeking compliant documents.
  • Accurately produce photo licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards.
  • Administer, correct, and explain driver license knowledge tests.
  • Conduct vision tests.
  • Explain state and federal requirements for different driver and identification transactions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
  • Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
  • Collaborate with office leaders and managers to ensure efficient operations related to issuing Real ID.
  • Examine documents for eligibility prior to issuing credentials.
  • Prepare daily reports and balance transactions at the end of each day.
  • Travel to other offices in the region to perform relief work.

Requirements

  • Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
  • Three months experience collecting money and making change.
  • Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $3,952 - $5,458 per month, non-PERS, with a potential increase of 6.95% for PERS members.

Schedule

This is a limited duration appointment ending on or before June 30, 2027. It is benefits eligible and has a designated maximum length of service. There is the potential for this position to become permanent.
