About the role
The Real ID Specialist (Limited Duration) position at the Oregon Department of Transportation's Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) Field Services Group / South Region in Klamath Falls assists the public with obtaining Real ID compliant identification cards and provides customer service for those seeking documents that comply with the Real ID Act.
Responsibilities
- Assist the public with obtaining Real ID compliant identification cards.
- Answer questions related to Real ID and provide customer service for Oregonians looking to obtain documents that comply with the Real ID Act.
- Administer, correct and explain driver license knowledge tests.
- Conduct vision tests.
- Explain state and federal requirements for different driver and identification transactions.
- Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
- Collaborate with office leaders and managers to ensure efficient operations related to issuing Real ID.
- Examine documents for eligibility prior to issuing credentials.
- Prepare daily reports and balance transactions at the end of each day.
- Travel to other offices in the region to perform relief work.
Requirements
- Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures.
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
- Three months experience collecting money and making change.
- Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
Qualifications
Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with stressful situations. Demonstrated computer literacy and reading comprehension skills. Experience providing excellent customer service. Experience handling multiple assignments with frequent interruptions. Experience effectively interpreting complex rules and policies to customers or clients.
