Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participating in due diligence review of title, survey, zoning and related documents
- Drafting, editing, and conforming legal documents and correspondence
- Ordering and negotiating title, survey and zoning reports
- Identifying, analyzing and summarizing title, survey and zoning issues
- Negotiating title insurance, surveys and zoning reports to correct title defects and issue clear title
- Verify accuracy of final title insurance policies, surveys and zoning reports
- Obtain services from outside contractors, including research services, filing services, and printing services
- Process bills and disbursement paperwork in connection with those services
- Organize, prepare and coordinate escrow closings for purchase, sale and finance transactions
- Assist attorneys in preparing closing documents
- Review settlement statements, signature pages, closing logistics, document execution, recordation, delivery of agreements and documents to the various parties
- Handle post-closing matters including filing UCCs and preparation of closing binders
- May be asked to provide general supervision of project assistants and other clerical staff
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Paralegal certification is a plus
- Minimum of five (5) years at a large law firm as a Real Estate paralegal is preferred
- Must possess good organizational and communication skills
- Excellent Microsoft software skills
- Title, survey, and zoning examination experience
- A willingness to learn
- Ability to work overtime as needed
Pay
The starting salary range for this New York position is $100,000 - $130,000.
