About the Role

Withum’s Auditing and Attest Engagement services are the cornerstone of our firm. This Audit Senior role will be based out of our Tysons Corner, VA office. You'll work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well-known CPAs and industry leaders. As an Audit Senior Associate, you’ll play a key role in leading audit engagements, mentoring junior staff, and delivering exceptional client service. This role focuses on clients in the real estate industry, including REITs, developers, real estate funds, and property managers.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the engagement team on the planning and execution of audits, reviews, and compilations for real estate clients including REITs, developers, real estate funds, and property managers
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of audit engagements including staffing, risk assessment, fieldwork, and reporting
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff, reviewing workpapers, and providing feedback
  • Collaborating with managers and partners to resolve client issues and provide strategic recommendations
  • Reviewing general ledger accounts and financial statements for reliability and compliance
  • Understanding real estate-specific regulations and compliance requirements
  • Managing multiple engagements and deadlines across various teams
  • Participating in professional development programs and firm initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA eligibility preferred
  • 2–4 years of public accounting experience, ideally with real estate clients
  • Strong technical knowledge of audit procedures and real estate accounting
  • Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills
  • Experience with audit software and ERP systems used in the real estate industry
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deliver high-quality work under deadlines
