About the role

The Real Estate Appraiser position within the Department of Transportation offers an opportunity to apply analytical skills in a meaningful context. This role involves examining properties, studying market trends, and contributing to highway improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Property Research: Review ownership records, deed descriptions, and zoning information to understand property details.
  • Field Evaluation: Visit properties to inspect conditions, interview owners, and gather essential information.
  • Valuation Methods: Determine appropriate appraisal approaches and analyze comparable sales and market trends.
  • Report Preparation: Develop complete appraisal reports, update valuations, and provide documentation for hearings.
  • Legal Support: Testify at hearings, assist staff attorneys, and supply information for claim settlements.
  • Technical Guidance: Support project teams by reviewing appraisals and advising on policy compliance.

Qualifications

  • Active Pennsylvania Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser certification.
  • Active motor vehicle license.
  • Pennsylvania residency.

Benefits

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework option: Up to 5 days per pay period, subject to approval and configuration.

Pay

  • Starting annual salary: $53,008 (before taxes).
