About the Role

You will be reporting to the Real Assets Team Head, focusing on Real Estate Financing within the Risk Management Department. The department contributes to the sustainable growth of Societe Generale by independently analyzing, assessing, managing, and monitoring risk-taking activities to achieve the best possible outcome for the bank. RISQ/CIB oversees credit management for corporates, financial institutions, sovereign counterparties, and country risk, setting specific credit policies and exposure limits.

Responsibilities

  • Perform credit assessment of counterparties and underlying assets being traded or financed.
  • Provide detailed explanations of counterparties, including analysis of historical performance and key risk factors.
  • Offer approval or recommendations for proposed limits and tenors, documenting final decisions.
  • Validate Obligor Risk Ratings, Basle II parameters (LGDs), and other financial metrics.
  • Monitor the credit quality of the portfolio, including early detection of deteriorating credits.
  • Participate in the quarterly watch list review process.
  • Track credit and market trends for individual asset classes.
  • Assist the Portfolio Management and Governance team in preparing reports for RISQ management and regulators.
  • Contribute to the Bank’s credit policy guidelines and overall risk appetite.
  • Participate in setting the global risk appetite for financing initiatives.
  • Assess new business initiatives, including white papers, New Product Committees, and business rules.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Credit Risk or a similar role within U.S. Commercial Real Estate and CMBS markets, with opportunities to expand into other Real Asset scopes, including project finance.
  • Broad knowledge of risks impacting Real Estate, with specific expertise in credit risk.
  • Good knowledge of the U.S. market and regulatory practices.
  • Strong analytical and solid judgment skills, with a proven ability to understand complex transactions and processes.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and capacity to work autonomously.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Strong collaboration skills across the risk division and with partners such as business lines, legal, and compliance teams.
  • Results-focused, responsive, with strong strategic capabilities in decision-making and risk assessment.
  • Good English language writing skills; working knowledge of French is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and effectively manage priorities.
