Reading Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD
About the Role
As a Reading Specialist at Alpha, you will facilitate brief structured-literacy sessions, support students during app-based core instruction, conduct morning launch routines, life-skills workshops, and check-chart procedures. You will motivate students toward weekly goals and provide individualized intervention strategies. This role is on-site at one of our campuses, with relocation assistance available.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate brief structured-literacy sessions with small groups of 2-4 students, identifying phonics or decoding deficits and delivering targeted instruction.
- Support students during app-based core instruction, identifying stalled progress and facilitating problem-solving.
- Conduct morning launch routines, life-skills workshops, and check-chart procedures.
- Motivate students using school incentive systems, leaderboards, and gamification strategies.
- Remain with assigned students throughout the day, addressing resistance and emotional difficulties with individualized interventions.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience with children ages 4-9 in instructional, coaching, or developmental roles.
- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching reading to K-3 students within the past 5 years.
- Completed formal structured-literacy certification (e.g., LETRS, Orton-Gillingham) or a master’s degree in reading/literacy.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; state teaching certification not required.
- Availability to work on-site at one of the specified campuses (AZ, OK, TX, UT).
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Qualifications
- Ability to maintain engagement in a room of young children using presence and well-designed activities.
- Familiarity with digital reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia) or diagnostic instruments (e.g., DIBELS, AIMSweb) is a plus.
- Experience in alternative educational models (charter, Montessori, blended learning) is advantageous.

$100,000 annual salary, paid weekly.
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week across five days, on-site at a single Alpha campus.
