Reading Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD
About the Role
As a Reading Specialist at Alpha, you will facilitate brief structured-literacy sessions, support students during app-based core instruction, conduct morning launch routines, life-skills workshops, and check-chart procedures, and motivate students toward weekly application goals. You will remain with your assigned students throughout the day, responding to resistance and emotional difficulty with individualized intervention strategies.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating brief structured-literacy sessions with small groups of 2-4 students, identifying phonics or decoding deficits, delivering targeted instruction, and verifying skill transfer
- Supporting students during app-based core instruction, identifying stalled progress, and facilitating problem-solving
- Conducting morning launch routines, life-skills workshops, and check-chart procedures
- Motivating students using school incentive systems, leaderboards, and gamification strategies
- Remaining with assigned students from morning through lunch, recess, and dismissal, providing individualized interventions
Requirements
- Available to work on-site at one of the specified campuses (relocation assistance provided)
- Minimum 3 years of experience with children ages 4-9 in relevant environments
- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching reading to grades K-3 within the past 5 years
- Completed formal structured-literacy certification or hold a master's degree in reading/literacy
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline (state teaching certification not required)
- Prepared to allocate 90% of time to guiding students and 10% to reading intervention
- Authorized for employment in the United States without visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Ability to maintain engagement in a room of young children using presence and well-designed activities
- Familiarity with digital reading platforms or diagnostic instruments (preferred)
- Successful remediation of a student's decoding skills (preferred)
- Background in alternative educational models (preferred)

Pay
$100,000 annual salary, paid weekly.
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week across five days, on-site at a single Alpha campus.
