Reading Coach (ELA/SLA/Montessori)
About the role
Champion of Biliteracy & Lead Practitioner As we move into our brand-new facility for the 2026-2027 school year, Mi Escuela Montessori is seeking a high-level Instructional Coach: Biliteracy & Intervention. This role is the bridge between our Dual-Language Montessori mission and the Science of Reading. You will serve as a "Practitioner-Leader": providing intensive Tier 3 interventions to our most struggling readers while simultaneously coaching and mentoring our teaching faculty. As a "lab school" for our on-site Montessori training center, you will play a critical role in supporting the next generation of bilingual Montessori educators.
Responsibilities
Direct Intervention (The Practitioner)
- Tier 3 Support: Deliver intensive, evidence-based reading interventions in both Spanish and English to small groups of students.
- Student Growth: Monitor and track individual progress, adjusting instructional strategies in real-time to ensure every child achieves biliteracy.
Instructional Coaching (The Mentor)
- Clinical Observation: Conduct regular classroom observations and provide guides (teachers) with direct, constructive, and actionable feedback.
- Accountability: Manage the literacy component of the MTSS process, ensuring teaching teams are consistent and meticulous with Tier 2 documentation and strategies.
- Conflict Management: Navigate professional differences in pedagogical approach with grace and courtesy, always centering the needs of the child.
Laboratory School Integration (The Strategist)
- Extended Calendar: Utilize the 10.5-month schedule to finalize year-end literacy data (post-year) and lead "Launch Week" professional development for staff (pre-year).
- Dual-Language Alignment: Ensure the seamless "cross-linguistic transfer" of skills between ELA and SLA across the K-8 continuum.
Qualifications
Certification:
- Florida Professional Educator Certificate with a Required Reading Endorsement.
Montessori Training:
- MACTE-accredited Elementary Montessori training (6–9 or 6–12).
Classroom Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of Montessori classroom experience.
Language:
- Full professional fluency in both Spanish and English (Written and Verbal).
Interpersonal Skill:
- Proven ability to manage conflict and deliver difficult feedback professionally.
Preferred:
- Endorsement: Florida Literacy Coach Endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
Experience:
- 5+ years of classroom experience with a proven track record of literacy growth.
