Radiological Control Technician I

The Radiological Control Department is seeking a Technician I to perform RCT duties. Key responsibilities include:

• Perform radiological surveys and monitor conditions.
• Verify radiological instrumentation functions before use.
• Post radiological signs to ensure proper identification.
• Follow work permits and procedures.
• Generate and maintain records for surveys and activities.
• Implement stop work authority when necessary.
• Maintain training and qualifications.
• Perform related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some vocational training preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
• Fitted for and qualified to use various respiratory protection and personal protective equipment.
• Able to participate in National Response Asset Deployment activities.
• Able to qualify within 6 months of start date to DOE RCT standardized core training programs.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently or in teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of radiation protection principles.

The primary work location is at the Nevada National Security Site, 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. Work schedule is 4/10s Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime. On-call work may be required. Pre-placement physical examination and drug screen are required. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance. Hourly range for this position is $21.84 - $32.76, with starting salary determined by market value, education, experience, and internal equity.
