Seeking recent graduates, paraprofessionals, skills trainers, educational assistants (EA), and those interested in working with individuals with Autism and other Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (IDDs). Start as a Behavior Technician Trainee and become a Registered Behavior Technician® (RBT) with BAYADA in just a few weeks.

About the Role

  • A training program to prepare you for RBT certification
  • High-quality training grounded in evidence-based practices in adult learning and applied behavior analysis, including:
    • BAYADA University web-based courses
    • Hands-on training and structured observation
    • BAYADA study guides to prepare for the RBT exam

Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals with Autism and other Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (IDDs) to reduce challenging behaviors, increase functional skills, and foster independence
  • Provide care in a school-based setting for local school districts on Oahu
  • Work directly with students in the classroom, following the established service plan
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients and school teams
  • Respect the values, thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes of clients and families
  • Implement behavior therapy techniques and collaborate with teachers to support students in the classroom
  • Document interventions and progress toward goals
  • Collect behavior data as specified in the client behavior plan
  • Provide training, instruction, and assistance to help students acquire and maintain skills and meet identified goals
  • Support clients in interpersonal skills, personal relationship development, and building independence in their school routine
  • Help school-age children succeed with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree OR 48 college credits including Math 100 and English 100 OR a High School Diploma/GED with passage of the ParaPro Praxis assessment (BAYADA assistance available)
  • No prior experience necessary
  • Complete RBT Academy and pass the RBT Exam to become an RBT with BAYADA

Pay

Starting pay: $30/hour

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday (7:30 AM–3:00 PM)
