Rate Filing Specialist
About the role
AMERISAFE is seeking a detail-oriented, productivity-driven professional to join our “Excellence Team” based in DeRidder, LA. In this position, you will handle rate, rule, and form filings by preparing data, collaborating with actuaries, submitting filings, and responding to inquiries or objections from insurance departments. You will compile and maintain all required filing forms and data for the respective states, ensuring the quality of rates imported into systems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a role model for diversity and inclusion, supporting the AMERISAFE pillars.
- Manage the policy form and rate filing process, including preparation, submission, coordination with actuaries, obtaining state approval, maintaining filing records, tracking forms and rates, and communicating filing status and approvals to operational areas.
- Read, review, and digest industry publications, including research and review of state and federal insurance laws and regulatory updates.
- Compile and assimilate data needed for rate and form filings.
- Provide detailed data to actuaries and state Departments of Insurance to support and justify rate filings.
- Correspond with actuaries and other professionals to complete rate filings.
- Consult within RIS on rate changes and filing requirements.
- Maintain all correct filing forms required by respective states.
- Assist in rate set comparison and testing upon final approval.
- Import and test rate data in ICAMS.
- Research, troubleshoot, report, and test Work items in a testing database and provide feedback to IT for production uploads.
- Handle class code changes (additions or deletions) as required by states, NCCI, or Rating Bureaus.
- Log information in ImageRight and attach process information to appropriate Work items.
- Assist with calculations of workers’ compensation estimated annual premium, reporting rates, schedule rating, upset values, short-rate penalties, and prorating.
- Confirm valid zip codes and enter them into the zip code table in ICAMS production.
- Cultivate and maintain contacts with State Insurance Departments’ staff.
- Identify and communicate regulatory issues to management as necessary.
- Input filed and approved data into ICAMS and review for accuracy.
- Troubleshoot issues as notified by other departments.
- Maintain and update surcharges and assessments as needed.
- Set up new or revised descriptions, rules, and class codes in the rating system and test outcomes.
- Coordinate calculation corrections between departments, including those beyond the scope of maintaining loss costs and rates in ICAMS.
- Assist with regulatory exam issues and internal audits related to filings.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Crystal Reports, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, accurate, and organized.
- Excellent math aptitude.
- Strong time management skills.
- Professional written and oral communication skills.
Pre-employment screening
