Responsibilities
- Cook up the full lifecycle of customer bids & RFP/RFQ responses, making sure they’re submitted on time and correctly.
- Collaborate with internal teams like pricing, sales, and operations to craft competitive pricing solutions for both new and existing clients.
- Analyze incumbent business performance, spotting profitability trends with the help of internal and external tools, and oversee the development of solutions based on collaborative pricing.
- Prepare for new business opportunities through cost modeling, competitor benchmarking, and margin analysis, focusing on key players.
- Create customer-specific pricing strategies with data-driven insights and historical performance reviews, ready for pricing leaders to review.
- Use pricing databases, bid templates, and documents to make accessing and accuracy easy.
- Help supervisory personnel track and report bid outcomes and pricing performance.
- Act as the main point of contact between account executives and internal divisions to ensure pricing is aligned with freight characteristics, customer needs, market imbalances, and expected operating ratios.
- Handle additional rate-related projects, analyses, and other tasks as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Be punctual and reliable, meeting shifts as determined by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- One to two years of transportation rate experience is preferred.
- One to two years of PC computer experience, with an emphasis on Excel, is preferred.
- Zero to six months of customer service experience is preferred.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills are essential.
- Strong mathematical skills are required.
- The ability to operate a computer terminal and/or personal computer is necessary, with intermediate MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge of DOT and ICC requirements, usually gained through practical experience, is preferred.
- The ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously is crucial.
