About the role
The RAP (Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement) Crusher Operator is responsible for the safe operation of crushing and conveying plants (primary, secondary and tertiary) and performing limited maintenance related duties. This position assists the maintenance department on mechanical issues and performs general laborer duties at the operation.
Responsibilities
- Operate crusher safely and assist crew leader/operator with operations
- Be aware of surroundings, reporting any potential problems to crew leader/operator
- Work cautiously to maintain a safe environment
- Comply with MSHA and operating rules and regulations
- Assist with setup and tear down of plants
- Perform general maintenance, inspect, repair, and service equipment and plant as required or directed by supervisor
- Clean debris from conveyor belt and around machinery
- Grease machinery weekly
- Use a shovel to move material
- Run equipment and load when necessary
- Complete pre-shift inspections on equipment before startup
- Perform general labor duties at the operation, including service work on equipment, grounds keeping, and other tasks as assigned
- Assist other craft workers as needed
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Acceptable MVR in accordance with Fisher's Company Vehicle Program policy
- M.S.H.A. certificate part 46 or 48 or willingness to obtain certification - company will pay for certification
- Basic knowledge of welding and using a cutting torch
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test
- Ability to complete work tasks under various adverse weather conditions including heat above 100 degrees, cold, rain, and snow
- Ability to operate equipment in adverse weather conditions and on steep and rough terrains
- Ability to repeatedly walk up and down steep and rough terrain carrying construction materials
- Punctuality
- Team player willing and able to learn
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year in operating other heavy equipment, loaders, dozers, and excavators
Skills
- Safe operation of crushing and conveying plants
- General maintenance and repair of equipment
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
