Ranch Roreman

Nisqually's Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act requires all individuals who have ever been convicted of a sex offense to register with our Public Safety Department, regardless of registration requirements in other jurisdictions.

About the Role

The Ranch Foreman directs and coordinates building, machine, grounds, and agricultural maintenance operations. This position trains and supervises Ranch Hands and other staff, assists in day-to-day activities when the Ranch Manager is off-site, and ensures the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records. Strong written and verbal communication skills, outstanding customer service, and a professional appearance are essential. Regular attendance is required, with occasional later hours or weekend work to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ranch infrastructures such as fences, ponds, roads, corrals, water systems, and buildings, including construction, repair, and maintenance.
• Oversee ranch projects and supervise Ranch Hands, providing mentorship and growth opportunities.
• Perform ranch beautification and projects, including lawn mowing, weed eating, barn cleaning, and vehicle cleaning.
• Maintain and upkeep ranch equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment (tractors, skid steers, backhoes).
• Manage game feeders, stands, and improve forestry, natural areas, and water projects.
• Ensure protection of animals in extreme weather conditions.
• Monitor cattle herds through visual inspections of cattle, food, and water sources.
• Feed and tag animals per schedule; rotate pastures and manage ranging processes.
• Support cattle and hay operations per lease requirements.
• Verify and ensure all feeders are properly filled and maintained.
• Monitor animal health, address issues, and contact veterinary services as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 5 years of recent experience in farm, ranch, or animal husbandry work, or a comparable combination of approved education and related work experience.
• Experience operating ranch equipment such as UTVs, ATVs, ranch trucks, tractors, and similar machinery.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions, during odd hours, and travel as needed.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s license with a driving record meeting Nisqually Indian Tribes’ vehicle insurance provider requirements.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe’s history, customs, and traditions, with the ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
• Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.

Working Environment & Conditions

Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, exposing the employee to temperature fluctuations and all weather conditions (e.g., summer heat, winter cold, humidity, rain, snow, wind). Exposure to noise from vehicles, machines, tools, dust, pollen, odors, and wildlife is common.
