About the role

At Delta Air Lines, connection is at the heart of everything we do. As a Ramp Agent, you’ll ensure our customers’ baggage and cargo arrive safely and on time. This entry-level position offers mentorship to help advance your career.

Work is physical and repetitive, including bending, lifting, standing, and walking. You’ll handle bags weighing 50–70 pounds in all weather conditions (heat, rain, snow) while practicing safety-conscious behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Safely lift, load, unload, and transport baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft.
  • Guide incoming and departing aircraft from gate positions to ensure timely connections.
  • Safeguard cargo, baggage, and mail from damage, loss, and weather.
  • Safely drive and operate ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in congested areas.
  • Operate baggage scanners and computers to route baggage accurately to the customer’s destination.

Seasonal Ramp Agents work 20–40 hours per week and 150–800 hours per year, depending on operational needs. Recalls may occur at any time based on demand.

Requirements

  • Consistently prioritize safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years old with authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Pass a physical ability test (PAT). Prepare for the PAT here.
  • Wear required company-approved PPE, including hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, protective headwear, and high-visibility apparel (subject to approved accommodations).
  • Ability to meet airport-specific requirements, such as obtaining a SIDA Badge and Customs Seal.
