About the role
The Roadway Worker in Charge (RWIC) position at RailPros will oversee safety measures for workers near live railroad tracks. Key responsibilities include providing on-site protection, coordinating with train dispatchers, and handling safety-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide jobsite protection, communicate with train dispatchers, and ensure work groups are clear of limits during train movements
- Prepare and submit required electronic forms such as job setup forms, daily work reports, and invoices
- Place and handle signs, derail devices, and other equipment weighing up to 90 pounds
- Maintain communication with RWIC supervisors and managers regarding assignments and schedules
- Participate in safety classes and qualification training
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture
- Adhere to company policies and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 3 years of Class I railroad experience in Maintenance of Way (MOW) and/or Trade Yard & Engine (TY&E)
Qualifications
- Able to complete physical demands and tasks
- Able to effectively warn workers of approaching trains
- Understand on-track safety training and qualifications
- Proficient in radio communication procedures
- Proficient in job briefings and sign placement
- Able to install derail devices and apply locking devices
- Proficient in electronic communications and standard office applications
