About the role
The Rail Operator is responsible for the day-to-day functions and maintenance of the rail infrastructure at empirical. The role involves ensuring the rail line is maintained according to safety standards and company guidelines, monitoring and controlling rail operations, and maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain equipment at optimal performance levels and adhere to safety and quality assurance standards.
- Notify management of any issues and correct them promptly.
- Assist in teardown, cleaning, and rebuilding of equipment.
- Efficiently start up equipment to meet production and sanitation schedules.
- Maintain cleanliness of rail loadout areas and other work areas.
- Learn and become knowledgeable about all aspects of rail and tanker truck operations.
- Lead in safe work practices and report unsafe conditions.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees, both verbally and in writing.
- Provide backup support to other positions within the department as needed.
Requirements
- Operate rail car mover and other motor-driven machinery with certification.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and skills.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of rail experience or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or verifiable ability to perform essential job functions.
Skills
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain certification to operate rail car mover and other motor driven machinery.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and skills.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources.
