Radiology Technologist Supervisor
About the role
Plans, organizes, and supervises the daily operation of radiology patient services including directing and educating staff, maintaining equipment and supplies, and performing advanced procedures as needed.
Schedules and provides direction to Radiologic Technologists. Coordinates the flow of patients through diagnostic procedures. May perform routine and complex radiologic procedures. Assists radiologists in evaluating new products and equipment. Oversees the maintenance of x-ray equipment and resolves any malfunctions. Oversees and coordinates quality assurance and quality improvement activities. Establishes quality measures and standards. Conducts employee evaluations and addresses problems by providing employees with feedback on an ongoing basis. Develops and conducts employee training programs. Regularly meets with and communicates operational changes to staff. Assists in developing short and long term goals and objectives. Assists in reviewing and administering departmental policies, procedures, and related forms in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Ensures staff observe radiation protection techniques such as using beam restrictive devices, shielding patients, and maintaining a knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Ensures the staffing needs of the department are met by projecting needs, interviewing employees to fill positions, and resolving staffing issues.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
Requirements
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and at a minimum be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
CPR certification required.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience to include at minimum of one (1) year supervisory or Level 3 RT experience.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- CPR certification
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year of supervisory or Level 3 RT experience
Skills
Knowledge of radiology procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
Ability to manage staff effectively and resolve issues.
