Radiology Technologist - South Carolina Urgent Care

Performs digital X-ray studies on patients per provider orders. A multi-skilled clinical professional who assists in patient care under the direction of the provider.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform provider-ordered radiographic examinations, including proper patient positioning, immobilization, and appropriate radiation protection.
• Set up and adjust supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases.
• Position and handle patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism.
• Accurately document patient encounters within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Determine and select proper electronic and technical factors to safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment.
• Maintain clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs.
• Collect patient specimens and run point-of-care lab tests.
• Travel to other facilities for providers or adjust work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager.
• Direct and practice sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination of disease.
• Report immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments, or repairs of equipment to supervisor.
• Perform additional duties including ordering supplies, lab and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out, and scribing as needed.

Requirements

• Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required).
• State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is performed; required in Virginia).
• BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required).
• Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred).
• 1 year of experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).
• Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred).
• Training in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
• Training in Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred).
• Proficiency in medical terminology and use of standard office equipment.
• One year of medical assisting experience (preferred).
• Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a high-volume environment (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask (preferred).
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served (adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, geriatrics).

Working Conditions
