Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and perform all exams while effectively operating fluoroscopic, x‑ray room, and portable x‑ray equipment, following radiation safety, quality assurance, and infection control procedures.
• Assist radiologists in fluoroscopic procedures; may perform minor fluoroscopic procedures under radiologist direction in accordance with radiology technology certification.
• Under physician direction, inject contrast material and/or medication as needed.
• Assist physicians with fluoroscopic procedures in the operating room.
• Set up required sterile medical surgical equipment according to standards and procedure.
• Assist in emergency situations under direction of MD/RN.
• Review and evaluate diagnostic images for technical quality.
• Verify patient information and exams performed; update exam descriptions to reflect actual exams.
• Assist clinical instructor and provide direct training and supervision to student technologists as required.
• Participate in training and orientation of new X‑ray Technicians and Radiologic Technologists.
• Utilize PACS, RIS, and current EMR efficiently; complete required paperwork for each examination.
• Maintain cleanliness of x‑ray equipment and associated minor equipment in accordance with infection control policies; place work orders for service and report malfunctions.
• Comply with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities.
• Attend department meetings and participate in all annual required training and in‑service training.
• Participate in Quality Improvement Programs.
• Comply with ALARA, Image Gently, and Image Wisely principles.
• Apply correct body mechanics when assisting patients with transfer, lifting, and ambulation.
• Maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
• Follow lab assistant protocols when working in East Wenatchee Lab/X‑ray.
• Other duties as assigned; demonstrate standards of behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct at all times.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
• Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Washington State certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) license.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
• Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA‑P) licensure if working out of the East Wenatchee location (must be obtained within 3 months of hire).
• One‑year clinical experience in diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopy (preferred).
• Previous radiology experience in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Certification or registry in any other diagnostic imaging field (desired).

Working Conditions

• Exposure to ionizing radiation, infectious diseases, blood, and other body substances; required to wear appropriate protective clothing, including lead or lead‑equivalent attire.
• Must be able to take call with a response time of 20 minutes.
• Assists in lifting patients and positioning them using safe patient‑handling equipment.
• Requires manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and depth perception for equipment operation.
• Environmental exposures: mechanical hazards, hazardous substances, blood‑borne pathogens, lighting, noise, ionizing/non‑ionizing radiation, infectious diseases.

Pay

Salary Range: $36.32 – $58.48 per hour
