Radiology Technologist - FT (Days & Night Shifts)

About the role

The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, following the direction of the ER Physician and Radiologist-accepted protocols. The technologist will be proficient in patient positioning and table adjustments to obtain optimal views of specified body areas. Radiation safety techniques, including the ALARA principle, beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and exposure factor knowledge, will be practiced to maximize protection for patients and staff.

The technologist will also operate CT scan equipment to produce diagnostic images, administer and consent for IV and oral contrast, and monitor for possible reactions or side effects. Responsibilities include completing appropriate paperwork and ensuring proper documentation in patient charts. The primary goal is to ensure patient safety and satisfaction while acquiring diagnostically acceptable exams.

Responsibilities

• Maintains awareness of all departmental and operational policies.
• Assists in the maintenance of all equipment in the department, including cleaning and QA procedures.
• Explains to patients the benefits and risks of procedures and exams.
• Prepares patients for examinations, including contrast administration, IV placement, and lab checks.
• Facilitates departmental operations by completing all appropriate forms (e.g., contrast, extravasations, pregnancy).
• Maintains safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, personnel, and self.
• Stays current with diagnostic radiology/CT procedures performed in the department.
• Applies knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain diagnostic-quality images.
• Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs on radiology/CT equipment.
• Proficiently utilizes all radiological/lab equipment in the ER.
• Uses appropriate body mechanics when moving/lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury.
• Applies principles of radiology safety in all responsibilities.
• Seeks guidance from appropriate personnel when needed.
• Communicates problems or concerns regarding departmental activities to appropriate personnel.
• Provides safe transportation of patients to and from patient care units.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• At least 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current state licensure (ARRT (R) (CT) and TDH/TMB for Texas; ARRT (R) (CT) for Colorado and Rhode Island).
• Current BCLS Certification.
