CT/Radiology Technologist (FT) - Night Shift

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time CT/Radiology Technologist for the night shift in the Corpus Christi area. This role requires functioning within the legal scope of practice, adhering to federal, state, and local laws, and following the policies and procedures of the employing health care institution. The Radiologic Technologist (RT(R)) operates under their own license, ensuring accountability and responsibility for the quality of care provided to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (X-rays) for diagnostic purposes as directed by a physician or radiologist.
• Position patients appropriately and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified body areas.
• Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance based on radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
• Practice radiation protection techniques, including beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure.
• Prepare patients for examinations, including administering contrast, proper IV placements, and checking labs.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, patients, and families while maintaining professionalism.
• Complete skill check-offs to demonstrate competency in assisting nurses and physicians.
• Facilitate departmental operations by completing appropriate forms related to exams (e.g., Contrast, Extravasations, Pregnancy).
• Assist with basic patient care, including taking vital signs, IV initiations, blood draws, and documenting as needed.
• Perform laboratory duties such as patient testing, specimen collection, and maintaining laboratory instruments and records.
• Assist in office duties such as front office registration, filing, shredding, scanning, and data entry as required.
• Assist with assessments, examinations, and treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
• Perform other duties such as crutch walking, dressing changes, and assisting with splint or cast application.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including preparing rooms between patients and procedures.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, OSHA, and fire safety regulations and policies.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives.

Requirements

• Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program with a valid ARRT license; certification in CT by the ARRT is preferred.
• Valid MRT license by the Texas Medical Board (TMB).
• At least two (2) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital or emergency room setting.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with current certification.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• High School Diploma and Associate’s degree in applied science or equivalent with diploma/certification from an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
• Ability to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Basic typing and computer proficiency, preferably with experience in Windows, Microsoft Office, and EMR systems.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing; additional languages are preferred.

• Knowledge of radiographic and CT equipment, including minor troubleshooting and repair.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology to apply principles of radiology and obtain diagnostic-quality images.
• Competency in laboratory duties, including specimen collection, testing, and maintaining laboratory records.
• Professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to lifelong learning and continued competence.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical business practices.
