Radiology Technologist, 40 hour Days

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader, the Radiology Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic procedures to produce images of body structures for the diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders. Work includes but is not limited to OR, ER, Fluoroscopic, inpatient and outpatient populations, utilizing ionizing radiation. Monitors and maintains essential patient care and safety, practicing ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). Flexibility to work overtime, cover at other sites as needed, on-call, and holiday rotation is mandatory. Up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus available.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic procedures to produce images for use in the diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders.
• Obtains and documents necessary patient information or history to perform appropriate exams.
• Documents all pertinent information involving the use of IV/oral contrast in the medical record.
• Begins and completes exams using the Radiology Information System (RIS) with 100% accuracy, 100% of the time.
• Labels all images with correct patient information and technologist’s initials with 100% accuracy 100% of the time.
• Ensures Quality Control of exams by using the PACS system.
• Evaluates images to identify errors and determine whether a repeat study is necessary to improve the image for diagnoses.
• Ensures that all radiographic exams achieve a quality repeat rate equaling less than 5%.
• Applies the lowest dose of ionizing radiation that is reasonably achievable (ALARA) to produce clear images.
• Contributes to a team approach to provide optimal quality care for patients.
• Works off-sites as needed.
• Maintains licensure on an annual basis.
• Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles and Mission Statement into daily activities.

• Transports off-sites, orients new staff, and assists in training students.

This position requires moving about on foot throughout the department and hospital, using upper extremities to exert force to push, pull, or drag equipment and/or transport patients. Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to position patients, as well as manual dexterity to perform manipulative skills such as turning dials, pushing buttons, and filling syringes.

Requirements

• Two-year AMA-accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
• Registered by the ARRT or registry eligible.
• Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Public Health: Radiation Control Program in Radiography.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Proficiency in the use of radiologic equipment, including C-arms/portable, or the ability to be trained to competency.
• Completion of a clinical internship in a hospital setting.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $53.49 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices.
