Responsibilities

  • Show proficiency in 2 or more Radiology sections.
  • Work closely with the Radiology Nurse, Radiologist and Neuro interventionist.
  • Utilize assigned functions within the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions.
  • Review patient’s chart for information of physician’s orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions.
  • Work closely with the Radiology Nurse, Radiologist and Neuro interventionist performing procedures.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate Lead.
  • Utilize hospital computer systems to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and credits.
  • Educate patients, and families as requested, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome.
  • Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow department, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure “ALARA”.
  • Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
  • Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive work and customer environments.
  • Work as a team to continuously improve work quality.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work schedules when it is necessary to ensure patient care.
  • Reports to: Radiology Supervisor, though may also be assigned work from the Radiologist, Neuro Interventionist, Director of Radiology Services, Clinical Leads and Clinical Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Required Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Experience: 5 years as a registered technologist.
  • Applicants must be ARRT registered and BLS Certified upon hire.
