Job Summary
The Radiology Tech I, under the supervision of the Radiology Director and the Staff Radiologist, performs radiological imaging examinations of patients using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. The Tech I positions patients as needed to obtain optimal images and prevents patient exposure to unnecessary radiation. They develop exposed X-ray film, ensure proper film identification on all images, and create x-ray CD copies. They file films, maintain medical records, and perform other related administrative duties.
Essential Functions
- Obtains and documents relevant medical history prior to performing examinations.
- Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal imaging outcomes.
- Performs diagnostic imaging procedures as ordered by the physician, following established protocols and standards of care.
- Aids the radiologist with special procedures and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring appropriate setup and patient preparation.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all radiology rooms and equipment according to infection control standards.
- Sets up and operates PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), including CD burning for image distribution when necessary.
- Executes imaging studies according to departmental protocols for specific modalities.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and personnel information in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policy.
- Participates in required Customer/Guest Relations and Mandatory Education programs.
- Reviews patient records for pertinent information necessary to conduct exams (e.g., lab values, prior imaging, clinical indications).
- Verifies and validates physician orders for imaging exams.
- Utilizes hospital information systems (HIS, EMR, ED charting) to obtain and record relevant patient data related to imaging and transport.
- Maintains fiscal responsibility by ensuring job-related expenditures remain within budgetary guidelines.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with an Associate degree required.
- Licensure: Valid Wyoming Radiologic Technologist license required.
- Certifications: Current certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
Experience
Experience in Diagnostic X-Ray is preferred.
