About the Role

The Radiology Tech Assistant performs a variety of clerical and patient-centered tasks to assist in the imaging department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of patient-oriented tasks to assist in the imaging department
  • Assist in transport of patients to and from the imaging department
  • Assist with clerical duties in the imaging department, including answering the phone, making patient pre/post phone calls, obtaining CDs for medical records and/or patients, coordinating imaging procedures with other departments, and requesting medical records from other institutions
  • Assist technologists with quality control and maintenance of all equipment in the area
  • Properly utilize accessory equipment such as patient moving devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations
  • Assist technologist with preparation of patients for procedures
  • Assist patients in/out and on/off of the imaging equipment using correct moving devices and equipment
  • Report changes in patient condition to medical staff
  • Assist in training of new staff
  • Follow, maintain, and help implement hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Consistently communicate with patients, guests, staff, and physicians in a positive manner
  • Adhere to compliance and regulatory requirements, including Federal, State, accrediting bodies, and standard practice of care for patients, staff, guests, and facilities
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and protocols
  • Assist with correct charging of procedures and supplies daily
  • Help maintain departmental inventory of supplies
  • Maintain departmental cleanliness
  • Work as a team member with peers and other departments
  • Respond calmly and efficiently to situations
  • Regularly attend departmental meetings, in-services, and actively participate in continuing education activities
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor or manager

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Entry-level patient care or customer service experience
  • BLS Certification

Schedule

Rotating schedules for after hours and holidays where applicable.
