About the Role

The Radiology Team Lead supports, maintains, troubleshoots, and coordinates the clinical and educational aspects of Computed Tomography (CT) and Diagnostic Imaging. This role requires knowledge of imaging informatics systems such as PACS, HIS/RIS, and multi-modality imaging logistics. The Team Lead facilitates communication between departments, providers, and radiology staff, and oversees the daily operational workflow of CT and Diagnostic Imaging exams and procedures.

It is expected that the Radiology Team Lead performs at the highest level of their licensure by contributing exceptional patient care while performing multi-modality imaging services daily.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Operates imaging equipment across multiple platforms within CT and Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Supports radiology students through hands-on learning, constructive feedback, and mentoring during their clinical rotation.
  • Reviews medical records and imaging orders to confirm patient history and relevant clinical information.
  • Prepares, monitors, and positions patients according to imaging protocols, explains procedures, and ensures patient comfort during exams.
  • Maintains an organized patient schedule, accommodates add-on patients as needed, communicates schedule changes promptly, and assists in scheduling Radiology exams for outpatients.
  • Exercises sound judgment in image quality assessment and communicates with the radiologist to determine if additional imaging may be necessary.
  • Adheres to ALARA principles to minimize patient radiation exposure.
  • Follows all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensures cleanliness and organization of imaging rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Utilizes the Radiology Information System (RIS) as required.
  • Maintains an understanding of the radiology PACS and EMR systems.

Leadership/Administrative Responsibilities

  • Stays current in the field by participating in continuing education, reading professional publications, and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Enhances the reputation of the hospital and radiology department by embracing new opportunities and contributing to departmental goals.
  • Supports the Director of Diagnostic Imaging and the Radiology Supervisor in maintaining compliance with all professional standards, hospital policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assists in performing administrative duties at the discretion of the Radiology Supervisor, including preceptor training, yearly staff competencies, attending meetings, and assisting in staff interviews.
  • Facilitates daily organization within the Radiology department by updating staff assignments, assigning lunches, and assisting the Radiology Supervisor with staff needs.
  • Assists the Radiology Supervisor by providing feedback for staff evaluations.

Requirements

  • ARRT certification in Radiography with advanced certification(s) in CT.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the State of New Hampshire.
  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience required.
  • Minimum of 1 year leadership experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GE and Philips imaging equipment preferred.

Required licenses: Radiographer NH (MIRT1060), Radiation Therapist NH (MIRT1057), or Medical Imaging/Rad Ther - NH (MIRT1001). Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS). Required registrations: American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT).
