About the role
Accountable for planning, organizing, and supervising the overall operation of radiology services. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while maintaining compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic procedures accurately and efficiently and according to established standards.
- Captures daily schedules for efficiency and assesses exam completion.
- Coordinates staff/student on-the-job training and orientation.
- Monitors educational needs of staff and assists with ongoing development.
- Works in collaboration with Radiologists, other departments and services to assure quality services are provided for all patients and customers.
- Reviews, develops and implements policies, procedures, physician orders and protocols related to the clinical area(s) of responsibility and ensures timely completion of processes.
- Researches and implements any new processes related to departmental area.
- Initiates performance improvement monitoring and performance and quality improvement projects related to clinical area of responsibility.
- Collaborates with department and administrative team to make departmental and facility changes as necessary related to data collected with patient and employee satisfaction surveys.
- Affirms equipment needs and oversees staff education and competence in the use of equipment.
- Maintains established departmental objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Performs clinical duties of a Radiology Technologist.
- Assumes administrative duties applicable to the department when necessary.
- Interviews, hires, develops, trains, retains employees; plans, assigns, and leads work; appraises performance; rewards and coaches employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Qualifications
- The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
