Radiology Operator and Medical Laboratory Assistant

About the role

Join Essentia Health's Diagnostic Imaging and Lab Team! We are seeking an X-Ray Operator to support our Imaging and Lab departments at our West Duluth, Hermantown, Lakewalk, Proctor and Lakeside Clinics.

Responsibilities

• Performing supervised and unsupervised x-ray exams in an outpatient & inpatient setting
• Providing optimal patient care utilizing established and accepted techniques during administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic imaging that is appropriate for the age of the involved patient population (ages 0 to death)
• Evaluation of abilities is approved and documented by a manager or QA Tech
• Safe transfers of patients to and from wheelchairs/carts with knowledge of safe handoff
• Aid with department workflow by completing exams in EPIC/PACS and cleaning/stocking exam rooms
• Collects specimens through venipuncture or capillary skin puncture and other miscellaneous specimens (Urine, swabs, etc.)
• Performs specimen processing and handling according to testing requirements to support clinical laboratory testing
• Participates in training of new employees, students, and other personnel as appropriate
• Fulfills laboratory testing, when applicable, per accreditation and licensure requirements

Requirements

• High School Diploma Graduate from a Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or complete an internal MLA training program within 1 year of hire

Qualifications

• Minnesota: Valid MN Department of Health X-ray Operator certificate within one year of hire or transfer
• Wisconsin: Current Limited X-ray machine operator permit through the Wisconsin Society of Radiologic Technologists within one year of hire or transfer
• North Dakota: Current Limited X-ray Machine Operator licensure through the North Dakota Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDBMIRT)

$24.63 - $36.64 / hour
