Radiology Administrative Coordinator

About the Role

This position supports the mission of optimizing the quality of life by addressing both medical and holistic needs. Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, Radiology Manager, and Radiology Director, the Radiology Administrative Coordinator oversees all aspects of radiology pre-authorization systems, including insurance verification, scheduling, and authorization for various radiology procedures such as ESI’s, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, TIA, DBS, Pulsatile Tinnitus, Rapid Spine Access, 2nd Opinion Clinic, and outpatient breast procedure preparation and coordination.

The role involves training and assisting secretaries and staff, delivering high standards of customer service to patients, families, and physician offices, and positively representing the radiology department to improve patient referrals and streamline processes. Additional duties include secretarial support, internal and external communication, customer service initiatives, and serving as a resource for other departments and customers.

The position requires handling behavioral issues of patients and visitors under highly stressful situations and performing other duties as assigned by leadership.

Responsibilities

• Supervise radiology pre-authorization systems, including insurance verification, scheduling, and authorization for radiology procedures.
• Train and assist secretaries and staff with pre-authorization processes.
• Provide high-quality customer service to patients, families, and physician offices.
• Represent the radiology department to improve patient referrals and streamline imaging service processes.
• Assist with secretarial duties as needed.
• Support internal and external communication and customer service initiatives.
• Serve as a resource for other departments and customers across all radiology modalities and locations (CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, IR, Diagnostic, MRI).
• Work closely with department leadership and Patient Access Systems to provide information.
• Handle behavioral issues of patients and visitors in high-stress situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Radiology Supervisor, Radiology Manager, and Radiology Director.

Requirements

• BLS certification through AHA or ARC.
• High School Graduate / GED required.
• 2-year Associate's Degree preferred.
• 3+ years of secretarial/clerical experience in a healthcare setting highly preferred.
• Radiology background preferred.
