Radiological Technologist (Inpatient)

About the Role

The Radiological Technologist (Weekend) performs radiologic procedures and examinations under the direction of radiologists or delegating practitioner to produce radiographic studies used in medical diagnosis to locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions within the body.

Responsibilities

• Provides services using imaging modalities including conventional x-ray, CR, DR, Fluoroscopy, Bone Density, and Urodynamics.
• Maintains and applies knowledge of radiation protection standards, skeletal system, major organs, and X-ray properties to perform diagnostic procedures.
• Provides services in inpatient, OR, ED, and outpatient settings.
• Evaluates radiographs for technical quality.
• Performs, assists, and is accountable for clinical laboratory procedures including phlebotomy, specimen processing, storage, handling, and transporting of specimens.
• Exercises professional judgment in performing radiographic and laboratory procedures.
• Provides patient care essential to radiographic procedures and recognizes conditions requiring immediate action.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current licensure as a Radiologic Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles, procedures, and radiologic equipment operation and maintenance.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
• Analytical skills to determine the best method for providing requested radiographs.
• Knowledge and experience performing pediatric phlebotomy.
• CPR Training required and/or must be obtained and maintained within 45 days of hire.

Working Conditions

• Works in radiology/imaging areas with rare exposure to unpleasant odors from specimens and chemicals.
• Occasional exposure to infectious agents or hazardous materials; proper safety precautions minimize risk.
• Regular exposure to radiation, minimized by lead aprons, gloves, shielding devices, and radiation monitoring badges.
• Ability to stand for long periods wearing a lead apron and to lift or turn disabled patients.
