Radiological Control Technician 4
About the role
Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a Radiation Control Technician 4 to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. The position requires a high school diploma and four to six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the authorized subject matter expert for developing radiological work control packages (RWCPs).
- Coordinates work area resources to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Fulfills customer radiation protection requests while adhering to RP-1 priorities.
- Works with customers and supervisors to resolve problems, escalating issues as necessary.
- Anticipates and handles unforeseen issues effectively.
- May include technical supervision responsibilities, but also provides technical leadership and reviews.
- Contributes to project or group outcomes through actions and words that demonstrate excellence in safety and compliance.
Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma and four to six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive experience in supporting radiological activities and facilities, and applying operational health physics to work.
- Moderate physical demands, including lifting and carrying radiation protection instruments and wearing personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
- Essential Job Functions: Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 35 pounds; reading vision; peripheral vision, depth perception; ability to speak; ability to hear in a normal range (500 to 3000 htz); ability to sit, crawl, stand, walk, run, and climb; free from chronic wounds or chronic rashes which disrupt the integrity of the skin that would prevent safe entry into controlled areas; ability to use stairways, fixed ladders, and ladders up to six feet.

Schedule
The position follows a 4/10 schedule, which may require 24/7 coverage and rotating shifts/weekend schedules at the discretion of the manager. Shift/weekend assignments are eligible for on-call and overtime.
