Radiologic Technologist (Pt - Variable)

About the role

Under the supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist administers x-rays to patients, operates X-ray equipment, processes images in Computerized Radiology (CR) and Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS), and prepares examination rooms and patients for procedures. This is a union position.

Responsibilities

• Prepares room, equipment, and materials for patients.
• Cleans and disinfects X-ray equipment.
• Prepares barium and other contrast medium for x-rays.
• Prepares patients for x-ray exams; explains procedures, transfers patients to table, positions the patient, and assists at the end of procedures.
• Assists the Radiologist with invasive and non-invasive procedures.
• Follows prescribed techniques in administering x-ray radiation to patients.
• Adheres to age-specific policy for quality of x-ray radiation to patients.
• Processes images in Computerized Radiology (CR) and Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS).
• Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences to Radiologist and nurse.
• Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties.
• Operates mobile unit to patient’s room, ER, or the OR.
• Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary, and support department areas ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Takes call when requested.
• Participates in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include wearing a respirator.
• Performs jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations and employs all mandatory safety devices and procedures.

Requirements

• Completion of Radiologic Health Sciences of California program.
• California State CRT license and State Fluoroscopy Permit.
• Current BLS Certification through AHA (required).
• ARRT license (preferred).
• Experience preferred but not required.
