Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of Position: This class of positions encompasses responsible clinical and administrative work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility involving day-to-day tasks of an operating segment of the Radiology department in the delivery of radiological services. Operates x-ray equipment, develops images, and prepares radiological areas, equipment, supplies and contrast materials. All personnel perform related work.
Supervisory Assignments
- Performs duties of lower Assignment Levels at a more difficult and responsible level.
- Maintains supplies, equipment and required records.
- Trains and assists radiographers in a wide variety of x-ray procedures.
- Schedules and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the area to ensure continuous flow of work.
- Supervises radiographers and ancillary personnel assigned to the area.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure operational viability of the area.
Specialized Imaging Assignments
- Performs typical tasks of Assignment Levels I and II, as listed below, for special procedures with diagnostic and interventional radiography in Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging or Mammography.
- May perform radiologic procedures, as required.
- Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography).
- Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings.
- Participates in quality assurance activities, including coordination, control and maintenance of technical equipment.
- Participates in and coordinates procurement and storage of supplies and makes recommendations regarding supply and equipment needs.
- Performs research and participates in special projects involving evaluation of equipment and delivery of service.
- May be assigned duties and responsibilities of immediate Supervisor in their absence on a temporary basis.
Minimum Qualifications
- For Supervisory Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
- For Specialized Imaging Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced-level certification for the performance of these procedures.
Additional Salary Compensation
All Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III shall receive a differential of $7,500 per annum to be cross-trained on different modalities of radiologic imaging and to be cross-assigned (once trained) to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs within a facility.
