Radiographer - Diagnostic Radiology - Evening

About the Role

Performs routine diagnostic, technical and/or special radiographic procedures at a general skill level.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiographic examinations, obtains patient history, explains routine procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures in one of the following specialty areas at a beginner level: operating room procedures (includes overhead, fluoroscopic and C-arm procedures), complex portables, or trauma procedures.
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedure.
  • Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures.
  • Properly processes images using digital technology.
  • Evaluates recorded images for technical quality; consistently maintains a repeat rate under 6%.
  • Participates in and collaborates with other departments on projects to improve care and efficiency as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age-specific data and provides appropriate, age-specific treatment.
  • Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patients, visitors, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; is a positive change agent, and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Will take call to meet the needs of the department. On-call requirements are defined separately by each entity.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Registered Technologist-Radiography - ARRT Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Accredited program in radiologic technology Upon Hire Required
