Radio Operations Manager

About the role

The Radio Operations Manager oversees the basic sound of KNTU and ensures quality control of its implementation. They also train, schedule, and supervise student staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and manage all student staff directors while creating a positive environment for teaching and coaching students.
  • Manage all quality control aspects of the station's brands, on-air content, podcast content, music and traffic logs, and promotional materials.
  • Aid in the workflow of recorded promotional and underwriting announcements, writing and approving scripts, voice talent, and loading content in the automation system.
  • Oversee fundraising activities and generate online content for KNTU's websites, social media, and podcast platforms.
  • Assist with public affairs programming and evaluate and critique on-air operations.
  • Organize and supervise promotional appearances and live broadcasts/remotes, and fundraisers.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of industry standards and FCC rules and regulations.
  • Strong communications, supervisory, and training skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate others.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the operations of a radio station and staff roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and five years of professional related experience, preferably as an Operations manager, program director, or promotions director; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Five years of experience working in broadcast media, preferably as an Operations manager, program director, or promotions director.

Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of industry standards and FCC rules and regulations.
  • Strong communications, supervisory, and training skills.

Work schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm; 40 hrs/wk.
