About the role
The Radiation Therapist I works under the direction of the Radiation Therapist II, Radiation Therapist III, Radiation Therapy Coordinator, Radiation Oncologist, and Medical Physics team to deliver high doses of radiation using linear accelerators. They administer ionizing radiation to patients as per the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.
Responsibilities
- Administering ionizing radiation to patients as per the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.
- Demonstrating a working knowledge of special care required for patients of all age groups.
- Pre-treatment preparation of all cases, including Daily Treatment, CT Simulation, Clinical Simulation, and Emergency Simulation.
- Accurate delivery of prescribed planned courses of radiation.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and be registry eligible with ARRT.
- After obtaining ARRT certification, obtain licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
- Hold a current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
