Responsibilities
- Assess patient status and their reaction to treatment daily, communicating concerns to the appropriate personnel
- Follow proper procedures for treatment field verification and approval
- Fabricate custom treatment devices according to proper procedures
- Educate patients about radiation therapy treatment procedures
- Set up and accurately deliver patient treatments based on prescriptions and treatment plans
- Operate linear accelerators, simulators, CT, and other related equipment safely and effectively
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Use therapeutic communication, maintain a safe environment, and identify patient needs, planning individualized care with an interdisciplinary approach
- Participate in performance improvement activities and contribute to the hospital's mission and vision
Requirements
- Graduation from a school accredited in radiation therapy instruction
- An Associate of Science (AS) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree is also acceptable
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (RT[T])
- One year of experience as a Radiation Therapist is preferred
