About the role
As a Radiation Therapist, your primary function is to administer prescribed doses of radiation to patients using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards. You will work at LewisGale Hospital Pulaski, a leading acute care facility in Southwest Virginia and New River Valley, known for its advanced healthcare services and patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Verify prescribed treatment dose, specific body parts to be treated, and angles to be used.
- Place and immobilize the patient to ensure accurate treatment.
- Maintain constant contact with the patient to assure they remain in proper position throughout treatment.
- Assure placement of protective devices to shield healthy exposed tissue of patients.
- Chart treatment details and report any abnormal conditions to the radiation oncologist.
- Provide appropriate teaching to patients and families.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date).
- (ARRT-T) Radiation Therapy certification.
- Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy.
No prior experience or travel is required for this role.
