Radiation Therapist Lead - Radiation Oncology

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aid in the day-to-day operations of the radiation therapy department.
  • Support clinical staff in enhancing patient care, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate across departments.
  • Assist with direct patient care, including treatment, delivery, and simulations.
  • Maintain productivity, teamwork, and patient care skills among employees.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical departments within and outside the Cancer Center.
  • Ensure proper staffing and coverage for radiation therapists and dosimetrists.
  • Track and provide feedback on quality measures, assist with preauthorization and billing processes.
  • Participate in project development and execution related to radiation oncology.
  • Represent Cancer Services at committee meetings and liaise with other departments.
  • Develop and execute a Cancer Services marketing plan.
  • Assist with writing and finalizing program reports, marketing materials, announcements, and correspondence.
  • Ensure effective procedures are established and followed to maintain productive relationships with referral sources and managed healthcare systems.
  • Assist with yearly budget activities as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, resident, employee, and organizational information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Appraise performance, reward, and discipline employees.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems under the direction of the Director.
  • Schedule and coordinate staff meetings.
  • Approve and monitor timecards for accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or minimum of 3 years of leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or related field of study with three years’ experience in a clinic setting; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Ledger experience preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • ARRT registered in radiation therapy with State of Iowa Radiation Therapy permit.
  • Ability to create a caring, compassionate relationship with patients and families.
  • Expertise in handling sophisticated medical equipment.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to carry out assignments with minimal supervision and guidance.
